Kernersville- John “Punk” Franklin Melton, 70, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at his residence. He was born August 6, 1954, in Forsyth County to the late William “Carson” and Myrtle Hopkins Melton. He was a 1972 graduate of East Forsyth High School and retired from AC-Corp after 35+ years of service.
John enjoyed fishing, racing, making belts and jewelry. He also loved traveling to Germany, his Harley Davidson and the Chicago Bears. John loved telling stories about the very fulfilling life he lived. He would always say “travel and see the world if you can!”
He is survived by his brother Stephen Melton (Linda) of Kernersville; two nieces, Ann Melton of Kernersville and Lynn Wagner (Jason) of Asheboro; a nephew, Steven Melton (Krystal) of Walnut Cove; two great nieces, Raylin Melton (David) of Mt. Airy and Riley Melton of Kernersville; a new great great nephew, David “Lil Peanut” of Mt. Airy.
John will be missed by all.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM April 1, 2025, in Muddy Creek Friends Cemetery with Rev. Francis Smith officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
