Mr. John Walter Pilcher, Jr. of Farmington, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born July 9, 1925 in Davie County to the late John and Alice Cornelius Pilcher. Mr. Pilcher served in the U.S. Army during WWII, had retired from Brown, Rogers and Dixon after 38 years of service and most recently retired from Wal-Mart after 17 years of service. He was a member of Church of Christ at N. Main Street in Mocksville, member for 42 years with the Farmington Ruritan Club and was a former Assistant Fire Chief with the Farmington Volunteer Fire department. Surviving is his wife, Sarah Lowery Pilcher; one son, Darrell Pilcher of Walnut Cove; one grandson, Cody Pilcher and wife Jennifer of King; one great-grandson, Ayden Pilcher; two sisters, Polly Wall of Winston-Salem and Hollis Smith of Advance; one step-son, Rudy Starrette of Statesville and two step-grandsons, Berry and Greg Starrette. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel by Mr. Claude Pharr. Burial will follow in Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to Carolina Bible Camp, ATTN: Bobby Grigsby, 307 Oak Meadow Ln.
