John Payne

Mr. John Payne, 28, of Calabash, formerly of Winston-Salem died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born August 16, 1980 in Forsyth County to Tony D. and Malia Miles Payne. John attended South Stokes High School and North Davidson High School and graduated from Winston-Salem Barber School. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Briggs D. Miles, Sr. and his close cousin, Jeremy Marsh. John was a very loving and caring grandson, son, brother and friend. He loved the beach, his dog, Yager and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed especially by his brother, Nolan. Survivors include his mother, Malia Marion and husband, Ricky Marion of Calabash; his father, Tony Payne of Lexington; his brother, Nolan Payne of Calabash; his maternal grandmother, Mary Miles of Winston-Salem; his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Lucy Payne of Lexington; two aunts, Gwen Annas and husband, Dennis of Lexington, Beverly Marsh and husband, Roland of Rural Hall; five uncles, Briggs D. Miles, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Lexington, Allen Miles and wife, Marivee of Clemmons, Larry Payne and wife, Jan of Charlotte, Bill Payne and wife, Kathy of Aynor, SC, and Roy Payne of Emerald Isle, ten cousins, Jonathan, Jason and Amanda Annas, Elizabeth Miles, Joshua Marsh, Chelsea and Mallee Miles, Rick Payne, Beth Monroe and Jeff Payne; his step grandparents, Richard and Lucille Marion of Dobson; and one step brother, Adam Marion of Dobson. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Charles Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
