John O. Harris, 90, of Kernersville, NC, died on June 27, 2022, in his home.
He was born on July 22, 1931, in Washington, to the late Theodore Lee and Isabel McQuown Harris, of Washington.
John attended Trinity High School.
On June 28, 1958, he married the love of his life, Nancy Joann Rawson, who survives. John passed one day before the couple would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Harris was employed in the glass industry for forty-three years with Ball Glass, including thirty-five years as a mould maker, before retiring in 1993 from Penn Mould Corporation.
He built several homes in the Washington area, and operated heavy equipment.
In November of 1998, John and Joann moved to Kernersville, NC, to be closer to their family.
He attended Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville.
John enjoyed farming, woodworking, reading westerns, and gardening.
Since 1996, john and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.
He was a member of the American Flint Glass Workers Union #142 and AARP.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, John Douglas (Helen) Harris, of Summerfield, NC; two grandchildren, Brittany Leigh (Kevin) Lansink, of Summerfield, NC, and Brian Douglas Harris, of West Chester, OH; and one great granddaughter, Audrey L. Lansink. Deceased are a son, Timothy J. Harris; and three brothers, James E. Harris, Theodore Lee Harris, Jr., and Stephen E. Harris.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
