HIGH POINT - Pastor John William McGraw, 87, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014. John was born on October 21, 1926 in San Diego, CA to William Edward and Mabel Vincent McGraw. John was a WWII veteran of the US Navy and a member of High Point Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and friends. John served in ministry for over 45 years. Retiring at age 65, he remained active in the birth of North Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church in Roanoke. One of his strongest passions was bringing people to the Lord and growing their faith by his example and strong love for others. He now rests in the Lord, awaiting the event that he spoke so convincingly about for so many years.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, David McGraw; two sisters, Grace Ecker and Margaret Willoughby; and one brother, William McGraw, Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Marguerite Annofsky McGraw; one daughter, Janice Wilhelm (John) of Kernersville; two sons, Jonathan McGraw (Rheba) of Hawaii and Paul McGraw (Betty) of CA; six grandchildren, Alex, Jessicah, Joshua, Spencer, Julianna and Evan; many loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Parklawn Memorial Park with Pastor Lawrence Serban officiating.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014 at North Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church in Roanoke.
Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
