John Willard "J.W." Martin

John Willard ""J.W."" Martin, Jr., 78, passed away on March 31, 2015 at KBR Hospice Home. J.W. was born on April 5, 1936 to Clarice O. Martin and John Willard Martin, Sr. in Forsyth County. He worked as a welder/mechanic in the trucking industry for over 30 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 391 and the Tar Heel Beagle Club. He enjoyed country music, playing the guitar, singing in the choir, running his beagles, and fishing. In addition to his parents, J.W. was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua; sister, Virginia Foster, and niece, Becky R. Stevens. Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce W. Martin; children, Terry Martin (Reneé) of Belews Creek, Doug Martin (Kim) of Linwood, Sherry Gray (Terry) of W-S, Allen Gordon (Sheila) of Kernersville; grandchildren, Michelle, Jefferey, Brandon, Lee, Quinn, Tyler, Caleb; as well as a great grandson, James. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Union Ridge UMC with Rev. Gary Elrod officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
