John Hunter

Mr. John Craig Hunter, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 05, 2018 at his residence. He was born on April 20, 1927 in Buncombe County to Fred Craig Hunter and Gladys Clevenger Hunter. John served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific where he was wounded and earned a Purple Heart. He worked for Sealtest Dairy where he retired after 37 years of service. After that, he started Dairy Fresh where he was the President and CEO. He was a faithful member of Reynolda Church. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Geneva "Jeep" Landers Hunter; his son, Craig Hunter (wife, Jacque); two granddaughters, Tracy Lynn Hove (husband, Scott) and Lauren Ashley Golden (husband, Jonny); and three great grandchildren, Oscar Wyatt Hove, Fisher Lynn Hove, and Hunter Thomas Golden.

A Celebration of Life service for John will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Reynolda Church with Rev. Alan Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 am - 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Reynolda Church at 2200 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
