WINSTON SALEM – John “Johnny” William Hackett, 61, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. John was born on October 1, 1959 in Forsyth County to Donald Ray and Nancy Stevens Hackett. He was a dedicated employee of Quality Oil for many years. John also volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader for many years and was a well-known volunteer at Piney Grove Elementary School, doing anything that needed to be done. He was an avid fan of Wake Forest sports, the Cowboys, and loved anything to do with cars and racing. If you ever met him, he was your friend. He had a kindred spirit and always shared a smile and a joke. John treasured his family and his friends, patronizing local restaurants - being especially present at Fitz on Main and Little Vitos. He will be dearly missed.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Hackett.
Surviving are his fiance’, Bonnie Adams; two sons, Shawn Hackett (Katie), and Ryan Hackett (Jett); a daughter, that he treated as his own, Christina Burchette (Anthony); four grandchildren, Kassidy, Karrigan, and Leighton Hackett and Malachi Burchette; his father, Don Hackett; a sister, Tammy Everhart (Wayne); an uncle, Red Hackett; niece and nephew, Candace Mabe and Robbie Mabe (Jessica).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville with Pastor Rob Decker officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Carolina National Kidney Foundation, 620 Montana Drive, Charlotte, NC 28216.
