John Frank Freeman

Mr. John F. Freeman, 83, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 28, 1927 in Elkin, N.C. to John F. and Irene Benge Freeman. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy and was retired from Hennis Freight Lines. Mr. Freeman was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church for 58 years and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Freeman and a son, Randall Freeman. Surviving are three sons, Charles Freeman, Steve Freeman and Gordon Freeman; two daughters, Betsy Freeman and Lynn Freeman; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a brother Howard E. Freeman. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Haley officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Renovation Fund at Oaklawn Baptist Church, 3500 Kernersville Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107.
