FOUSHEE Mr. John Vernon Foushee, Sr., 88, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at his home. He was born February 11, 1921 in Lee County, NC to the late Carl Clifton and Leslie Byrd Foushee. Mr. Foushee was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII having served in the European Campaign with Army Telephone Communications. He was a co-founder and member of Sedge Field Baptist Church in Greensboro where he served as a deacon for 25 years. Mr. Foushee worked at Southern Bell Telephone for 42 years until his retirement in 1981 as the Manager of the Greensboro Office. His co-workers knew him as ""Road Runner."" He was the brick and mortar of his entire family. Mr. Foushee was loved by everyone he came in contact with and all who knew him. Preceding him in death was the love of his life for over 60 years, Sarah Elizabeth ""Lib"" Motsinger Foushee; a sister, Bronnie Myers; four brothers, Russell, Elton, Clifton, and Ross Foushee; granddaughter, Amber Foushee; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Gilbert. Surviving are two children, John Vernon Foushee, Jr. and wife Donna Morehead Foushee and Brenda Foushee Wood; five grandchildren, Mike Foushee, Tracy Goulding, Connie Banner, Julie Bates and Percilla Farmer; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer Thull, Meagan Banner, Sara Banner, Jonathan Goulding, Emily Goulding, Jesse Berospe, Rowan Bates, and Lucy Bates; two great-great grandchildren, Aidan Keomanideth and Brendan Thull. A funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Friday, May 15, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Jerry Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
