John Franklin East

KERNERSVILLE-John Franklin East, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1930 in Forsyth Co. to the late James and Sallie Norman East. Mr. East was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Robert West Sunday School class. He also attended Harkers Island United Methodist Church. Frank retired from McLean Trucking Co. after many years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Joel East; and a sister, Stella Mounce. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marlene Clemmons East of the home; his son, Mark East; his daughter, Kim Joyce and husband, Todd; all of Kernersville; three grandchildren, James East, Brittany Joyce, Morgan Joyce; two brothers, Royce East, Graham East; one sister, Joann Williard and husband, John; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Autrey, and Rev. Chris Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday, April 2, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, PO Box 57, Walkertown, NC 27051. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the 5th floor Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for the compassionate care that was given to Frank.
