John Bahnson Dorse

Mr. John Bahnson Dorse, 87, of Lewisville passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 23, 1921 in Forsyth County, the son of the late William Henry Dorse and Susie Tuttle Dorse. Mr. Dorse was a World War II veteran and a retired country ham salesman, farmer and owner of J. B. Dorse Landscaping Company. After his retirement in 1984, he continued his love of farming and gardening. He was a faithful member of Warner's Chapel Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Ray Dorse, two brothers, Terry Dorse and Worth Dorse and three sisters, Sue Katherene Dorse, Cecil Ketner and Elizabeth Barkley. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Kathryn Dorse; two daughters, Gaye Ruark and husband, Gene of Clemmons and Sandy Lewis of the home; two grandchildren, Jimmy Ruark and wife, Amanda of Belews Creek and Gina Strickland and husband, Buddy of Lewisville; four great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Avery Strickland, Reid and Reanna Ruark and one sister-in-law, Iva Dorse of Mocksville and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, January 7, 2008 at Warner's Chapel Church of Christ with Minister Frank W. Shepard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to the North Carolina School of Biblical Studies, 8999 Lasater, Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012.
