Mr. John Adams Davis, Sr., 90, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1918 in Forsyth County to Thomas Hugh and Onnie Milton Davis. Mr. Davis attended Ardmore United Methodist Church. He had been employed with Southern Railway and also as a mechanic at Greyhound Bus Lines. He retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. as a senior staff member. He served as general mechanic for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers. Surviving is his wife, Jean B. Davis of the home; five sons, John A. Davis, Jr. of Severna Park, Maryland, Thomas E. Davis of Winston-Salem, David R. Davis of Delray Beach, Florida, Mark L. Davis and Michael G. Davis, both of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Brittany Davis officiating. The family will receive friends briefly Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
