John Colen Davis

Charlotte- John Colen Davis, 85, formerly of Winston Salem and Asheville, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010. He was born January 5, 1925 to Lennis Thacker Davis and Lucy Williams Davis. Mr. Davis was a former member of First Baptist Church in Winston Salem, and Calvary Church in Charlotte. He also was a member of the National Board of Realtors and the Charlotte Board of Realtors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two step-mothers, Opal Pulliam Davis and Manuel Davis; and brothers, Elwood and Howard Davis. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lou Jones Davis of Charlotte; daughter, Donna Barnett of Charlotte; three sisters, Eva Yountz, Elizabeth Weavil and Ruth Vestal, all of Winston Salem; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Mike Willard officiating. Burial will follow in the Love's United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, November 28, 2010 prior to the service at the funeral home.
