John Roy Crotts, Jr.

Our Daddy, PawPaw and brother, John Roy Crotts, Jr. 80, of Kernersville, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home. Mr. Crotts was born in Forsyth County on November 3, 1932 to the late John Roy, Sr. & Mary Wagoner Crotts. He grew up and married his late wife Lucy Shouse Crotts on October 18, 1952. She preceded him in death in 2007 after 54 years of marriage. He retired from Strohs Brewery in 1998 after many years of employment and thoroughly enjoyed telling people he made his 'living off alcohol'. He was a race car driver, part car owner, and mechanic for his son's cars and other participants from the 50's to the 80's at Bowman Gray Stadium. He loved talking about racing with the late Wendell Scott and Pee Wee Jones. He also had a love for remote control cars and airplanes. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Goins and a brother, Jimmy Crotts. He is survived by two daughters, Beverly C. Roberson and Kelly McNeal Heath (Ray); two sons, John 'Keith' Crotts and Kaylon 'Craig' Crotts all of Kernersville; seven grandchildren, Michelle Speas (Lt. Col. Brian), Marshall Wiggins (Kara Bessinger), Crystal Geldner (Sgt. Kurt), Emily Atwood, Ray Heath, Jr (Heather), Dawn Crotts, John Craig Crotts (Angela Vitale); 10 precious great grandchildren; a sister, Janet Pruitt (Boyd), a brother Jeffrey Lynn Crotts; and two special sister-in-laws, Patricia McNeill and Inez Armstrong (Bob) who were always by his side. As he is now dancing with our beautiful Momma on the streets paved with gold, we will be celebrating his life at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Kernersville with the Reverends Dan Baker and Wayne Branch officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller, Silas Creek Parkway. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com. - We love you Daddy and will miss you tremendously.
