John Edward Byerly

Mr. John Edward Byerly, 87, passed away March 25, 2016 at his home. He was born July 14, 1928 in Forsyth County to the late Felix Edward Byerly and Mary Knouse Byerly. John was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Clemmons for 78 years and was past Sunday School Superintendent. He retired from Hanes Hosiery with 42 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Cook Byerly. John is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Mona Anders Byerly; a son, Ed Byerly and wife Julia of Coral Springs, FL; two grandchildren, Sara and Dylan Byerly; a step-son, Richard Bedwell; a sister, June Byerly Mechum; his close cousin, Lee Byerly. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Christopher Hughes and the Rev. Roland Barnhardt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5280 Hampton Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012 or Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
