John "Jack" Bernard Barr

August 4, 2016 John 'Jack' Bernard Barr went to be with his Lord. Jack was born 11/29/1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to John K. and Berniece Cornelison Barr.

Jack served proudly in the United States Navy. He graduated Virginia Tech Class of '61. He had a more than twenty-year career with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco and Sealand. Jack and Jo Ann are lifelong Presbyterians and most recently members of First Presbyterian Church, Winston-Salem.

He is survived by his loving and adoring wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Steinmetz Barr, his sister, Laura Barr Gaylor, and brother, William Robert Barr.

Jack and Jo have two loving sons, John Kenneth Barr and Robert Todd Barr and two daughters-in-law Connie and Kristi, grandchildren Conor Todd Barr, Savannah Grace Barr and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Peter Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Big Brother, Big sisters in honor of Jack's love for TJ, Todd's ""Little Brother."" As well as, First Presbyterian of Winston-Salem, NC, Overflow Homeless Shelter or Wounded Warrior Project.
