John Robert Anderson

KERNERSVILLE-John Robert Anderson, 92, a lifelong resident of Kernersville passed away Tuesday, March 03, 2015 at Hospice Home at High Point. He was born June 13, 1922 in Guilford Co. to the late Rufus King and Hattie Smith Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a long time member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, a WWII Army 615th Ordinance Ammunition Company veteran having served in New Guinea and the Philippines.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gail Hodge; sons-in-law, Ronald Hodge and Jimmy Hedgecock; grandson, Kevin Hodge; sister, Helen Raper; and brother, James Clifford Anderson.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Doris Idol Anderson; two daughters, Nancy Anthony (Bobby) of Glenola, Joyce Hedgecock of Kernersville; two sons, John R. Anderson, Jr. (Mary Jane), and Harry Wayne Anderson (Judy) both of Kernersville; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Byrd of Lumberton; and one brother, David Anderson of Lakeland FL.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor David Rorie officiating. Burial will follow in Bunker Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
