Joel David ""J.D."" Moffitt, Sr. beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully, at his home on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Rural Hall, NC surrounded by his family and special brother, Randy Moffitt. He was born June 25, 1948 in Kingsport, TN to the late George and Virginia Tesner Moffitt. Joel was known for his heart of gold and sense of humor that carried through to the very end. He enjoyed bowling and during his career he succeeded in rolling a perfect game of 300 and will always remain in the National Bowling Hall of Fame. Joel retired
from Kaba Ilco in Winston Salem, where he was a Master Lead Mechanic. He lived a simple life,
worked hard, loved hard and you always knew where you stood in his life. In addition to his parents, Joel is preceded in death by daughter, Katrina Ann Sheppard. Joel was a dedicated and loving husband to Sandra Martin Moffitt for 24 years. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Maggiemou; a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Moffitt McMillan of Lexington, NC; a son, Joel David Moffitt, Jr. of Kernersville, NC; two brothers, Randy Moffitt of Morristown, TN and George Moffitt, Jr. of Mocksville, NC; Grandchildren, Summer Renee McMillan, Abbie Marie McMillan, Courtney Dawn McMillan, Maleah Rene Moffitt and Kalen Dane Holcomb. A memorial service celebrating Joel's life will be conducted 11:00 Thursday, July 20, 2017 at their home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Joel's famous last word were, ""You won't miss the water until the well runs dry and you won't miss JD until I say bye bye!!! We will truly miss him and his humor.
