Joel Cantrell

Mr. Joel A. Cantrell, 77, of Clemmons, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at his home. He was born February 8, 1942 to Ola Butler Cantrell and Joe Cantrell. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He always supported his daughters playing softball and attended every practice and games. Joel loved his German Shepherds, Ford Mustangs and his 18 year old poodle, Missy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Crystal Cantrell and a brother Guy Cantrell. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Linda Adams Cantrell; two daughters, Tracy Blakely (Bobby) of Colfax, NC and Wendy Gurley (David) of Princeton, NC; four grandchildren, Nicole Coburn (Brett), Christopher Gurley, Katie Gurley and Tyler Blakely; three great grandchildren, Payton, Brady and Carson Coburn; two brothers, Garry Cantrell (Darlene) and Wayne Cantrell (Norma); three sisters, Loretta Cooper, Diane Cantrell and Kay Peele; numerous nieces and nephews and a close family friend, Jonathan Annas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Chris Byrne officiating. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
