Mr. Joe David Barton, 81, of Pfafftown died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 15, 1935 in Winston-Salem, the son of the late Thomas Calvin and Hazel Thompson Barton. Mr. Barton was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he was an Usher and enjoyed attending Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of James A. Gray High School and was an avid golfer and loved to dance. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hope Louise Wishon and a sister, Sarah Garner. Survivors include three children, Sonya Kellar (Tom) of Winston-Salem, Phillip Barton (Deborah) of Clemmons and Donna Wishon (Darwin) of King; five grandchildren, Amanda Tomkiewicz (Joe) of Greenville, Jessica Kellar of Greensboro, Calvin Wishon, Faith Wishon and Kevin Wishon of King; two great grandchildren, Noah Tomkiewicz and Gabrial Tomkiewicz of Greenville; one sister, Sylvia Teague of Rockbath, VA; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. R. Craig Ford officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM until 3:15 PM at the funeral home. A family interment will take place on Monday at Woodland Cemetery.
