Joe Adams, Sr.

Mr. Joe Vaughn Adams, Sr., 86, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022.  Joe was born in Forsyth County on July 31, 1936, to the late Millard Franklin Adams and Lola May Gant Adams.  He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service.  Joe went on to have a career as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring after many years of service.  Joe was a faithful member of Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Winston-Salem.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.  Joe is survived by his two children, Virginia “Ginger” Adams Cooper and husband, Paul and Joe Vaughn Adams, Jr. and wife, Helen; four grandchildren, Devin Slate, Gillian Cooper, Jessica Foote Adams, and Elizabeth Adams Vargas and husband, Ben; and three great grandchildren, Arson Barbour, Ethan Vargas, and Cameron Vargas.  A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Fred Guldberg officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1355 Jonestown Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Adams.
