Mrs. Joanne Johnston Moses, 77, of Elkton, MD (formerly Kernersville), passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD. She was born September 24, 1940 in Mercer County, WV to Arlie Pellen and Iva Mae(Wiles) Johnston. She was a 1958 graduate of Princeton High School and attended Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA. Earlier in life, she worked at the Mercer County Courthouse, Princeton, WV. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and lovingly caring for her husband and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Kent Moses; one son, Richard Kent Moses; four brothers, Jack, James, Glen, and Harold and one sister, Norma. She is survived by one son, Paul (Melissa) Moses and two grandchildren, Kelsey and Jarrett, all of Elkton, MD. Also surviving are three brothers, Billy (Janice) of Wytheville, VA, Roger (Tina) of Ronda, NC, and James (Janie) of State Rd, NC. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Tim Wolfe officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to those services on Monday. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. The family would like to thank the amazing team of nurses, aides, and caretakers at Calvert Manor and Seasons Hospice for their loving care since August, 2016. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
