Winston-Salem- Mrs. Joanne Todd Cartee, 76, passed away July 17, 2011 at her residence. She was born November 25, 1934 in Forsyth County to the late Roy Lee Todd and Irene Kimel Todd. Mrs. Cartee was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church where she was a member of the choir and Circle 2. She was a graduate of Reynolds High School class of 1953 and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College where she was the lead vocalist of the Kampus Kats Dance Band. She married her husband, Thomas E. Cartee on August 26, 1956. Mrs. Cartee loved her church and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her son, Thomas E. Cartee, Jr. and wife Kathryn S. Cartee; a daughter, Leanne Cartee; two grandsons, Thomas Edward Cartee III and John Caleb Cartee; a sister, Sybil Todd Steelman. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with the Rev. Dr. Dave Marcus and the Rt. Rev. Sam Gray officiating. A private burial will be held in the church graveyard.
