JoAnn Jody Leins Whelpley

Mrs. JoAnn Leins ""Jody"" Whelpley, 77, of Bermuda Run passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born April 25, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA to William F. and Lydia Moody Leins. Jody was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting and the beach. She was active in the Bermuda Run Country Club and was a volunteer with Hospice and the Old Salem Boys Center. Jody was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was committed to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving is her husband, Dave Whelpley of 52 years; five children, Robin Stephens (Rob), Karen Beacham (Keith), Lauren Hughes (Phil), David Whelpley, Jr. (Tess) and Kristen McGuinness (Vince) and fifteen grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. The family will receive friends 12:45 to 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
