JoAnn Gray Powers

KERNERSVILLE-Jo Ann Gray Powers, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 4, 1932 in Guilford Co. to the late Jesse Howard and Alma Stafford Gray. Mrs. Powers was a member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church in Colfax, and retired from the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lee Powers; her sister, Rebecca G. Gray; and her brother, Levi Gray. Surviving are her son, Dwight Colin Powers of Colfax; three daughters, Debbie Powers Hoy of Cookeville, TN, Amelia Powers of Denver, Co, Lea Ann Powers of Oak Ridge; a brother, H. Stafford Gray and wife Margaret of Oak Ridge; six grandchildren, Michael and Caitlin Way, Erik and Lauren Hoy, Emily Way, and Sara Hopkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Sam White and Rev. Phil Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday, April 16, 2010 at the funeral home.
