Ms. JoAnn Cardwell Montgomery, 75 passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 22, 2010. She was born in Stokes County on September 7, 1934 to the late William ""Buck"" Cardwell and Mary King Cardwell. Ms. Montgomery retired from AT&T and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Patrick Montgomery; 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Ms. Montgomery is survived by two sons, Bruce Montgomery and wife Fran and Philip Montgomery and wife Stacey, two granddaughters, Sydney and Tesa, one brother, Eugene Cardwell and wife Mildred, two special nieces, Lib Raiford and Patricia Foster, a step-granddaughter, Leanne Stewart and husband Mike, two step-great-grandchildren, Brad Stewart and wife Ashley and Marcus Stewart and a step-great-great-grandchild, Bailey Grace Stewart. Funeral services for Ms. Montgomery will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Kent Cardwell officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. this evening Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall and following the service at Ms. Montgomery's home.
