Joan Marie Booth Thomas

Mrs. Joan Marie Booth Thomas, 55, of Winston-Salem went to be with our Savior and Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2011 after an extended battle with cancer. She was born November 26, 1955 to the late James William Booth, Sr. and Nessie East Booth. Joan was a nurse/lab technician for the N.C. Baptist Hospital for 18 years and then later got a degree in early childhood development where she raised and taught many children and loved them all. She was preceded in death by her brother, James William Booth, Jr. Surviving are her husband of 18 years, John Keith Thomas; a daughter, Hope Rene Thompson and husband Mark; a son, Rocky Dewayne Thomas and fianc Ashley; five lovely grandchildren, Ashley Hendrix, Sarah Hendrix, Bree Thompson, John Thomas and James Thomas; a sister, Lois McCraken Deselits and husband David. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 4th at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Brother Don Collins officiating. Burial will follow at her home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 3rd at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the Hospice nurses that cared for Joan, and a special thanks to Vicki Horton, a loyal devoted friend and caregiver for many years.
