Joan Marie Sneller McKinney

Mrs. Joan Marie Sneller McKinney, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at Arbor Acres. Joan was born October 26, 1929 in Roanoke, Virginia to Maurice and Evelyn Sneller. She graduated from Randolph Macon's Woman's College and worked for a short time for the National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C. She was an active member of Highland Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Wake Forest University School of Medicine. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. William Markley McKinney, and eldest son, William Markley McKinney, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Maurice Paterson Sneller, Jr., daughter, Mary Evelyn Anderson (Bob), and son, Robert Paterson McKinney (Susan); and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
