Joan Lord Keaton

Mrs. Joan Lord Keaton, age 68 went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Keaton was born July 27, 1944 in Glynn County, GA to Joel Jefferson and Inez Hand Lord. Mrs. Keaton was a member of United Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. She was a Sunday school teacher, youth director and volunteered at King Outreach Ministry while her health permitted. Mrs. Keaton enjoyed crocheting, needle work and sewing. The love for her family and pets will be greatly missed. Mrs. Keaton was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving is her husband of 35 years of marriage; Roy Keaton of the home, three daughters: Robyn (Mac) Barnhardt of GA, Tina Nichols of Holly Ridge, NC and Brittany (Daniel) Deal of Hickory. Two sons: Chris (Lisa) Vaughn of GA and Jim (Robin) Vaughn of King. Nine grand-children: Maggie, Paden, Sarah Beth, Molly, Luke, Peyton, Chad, Kayla and Jaden. Four brothers: Jeff (Mary) Lord of OH, Jim Lord of GA, Jake (Barbara) Lord of FL, and Jerry (Ann) Lord of GA. Many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at United Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Pastor Will Watson and Rev. Robert Lattimore. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to United Baptist Church, 5815 Murray Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to Humane Society of Forsyth County, 61 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27104
