Joan T. Carter

Ms. Joan Tumminia Carter, 65, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born December 12, 1945 in Glendora, NJ to John Tumminia and Grace Praria Tumminia. Ms. Carter loved Jazz music, her flower gardens and decorating. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her father, John Tumminia. She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Miller of Manchester, MA and Melissa Lane and husband Jeremy of King, her two grandchildren, Kazemir Lane and Xavier Max Lane, her mother, Grace Praria Tumminia of NJ, two sisters, Louise Bertacchi of NJ and Patricia Ann Camelia of FL, two brothers, John Tumminia and Robert Tumminia both of NJ and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall with Rev. Harry Sherril officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the service at the funeral home.
