Joan Terrell Beeson

Kernersville – Mrs. Joan Terrell Beeson, 91, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at Summerstone Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Stokes County on December 3, 1932, to the late Zeb Jackson Terrell and Lillie Dodson Terrell. Joan was married to the late Richard Leon Beeson, whom she had been with for over sixty years. She was one of the founders of the town of Summerfield and was the first Mayor pro tem. Joan was also a member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield. She was incredibly dedicated to her family, her church, and her work. Joan was the proud owner of Beeson Accounting Service for 35 years, where she assisted many people. She loved to sew, quilt, needle point and most of all, her family.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Joan is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. 

Surviving are her loving son, Richard Beeson and wife Cathy of Oak Island, NC, one grandson, Brad Beeson, and wife Annette of Belews Creek, two granddaughters, Jennifer Beeson of Wilmington and Mary Joyner and husband Jonathan of Waxhaw, NC, and one great granddaughter, Hayden Joyner.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Summerfield with Rev. Richard Beeson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
