MichaelMr. Jimmy Ray Michael, 74, of Lewisville passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his home. Mr. Michael was born in Wilkes County on September 4, 1936 to Toy William and Hazel McNeil Michael. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Lewisville and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Michael graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilkes County and later joined the Air Force where he played baseball. He was an outstanding player who was signed by the San Fransico Giants minor league team working his way up to Triple A until he injured his arm. Mr. Michael owned and operated Parkway Plaza Exxon, Twin City Exxon, and B & M Tire and Automotive. He also loved to fish. Mr. Michael was preceded in death by his father; and his wife, Marlene Ferguson Michael. Mr. Michael is survived by his mother; a sister, Carol Sheets and husband Charles of Kernersville; two brothers, Melvin Michael and wife Wanda of Winston-Salem, and Larry Michael and wife Amber of Millers Creek; and a special friend, Johnny Barlett, whom he considered as an adopted son. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Parklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Bud Owen and Rev. Carroll Bibb officiating. The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm Tuesday, prior to the service, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Parkway.
