Jimmie Wayne Southern

Mr. Jimmie Wayne Southern, age 77, of Pfafftown passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at his home. He was born in Forsyth County on September 3, 1936 to the late James and Rosalea H. Southern. Mr. Southern proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired with 21 years of service. He then worked at Colony Dodge for an additional 17 years. Mr. Southern was a member of Providence Moravian Church. He loved God and his church. Mr. Southern's CB handle was ""Stingray"" and he loved his CB friends. He was an avid bowler, raced go-karts, and rode dirt bikes. He loved Nascar, WWE Wrestling, and working on cars. He also enjoyed camping and riding his Goldwing across country.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Southern was preceded in death by his brother, David Southern. He is survived by his beloved wife and best-friend of 38 years, Dottie T. Southern; six children: Ronda (Rod) Bost, Pamela (Wayne) Hicks, Bruce Johnson, Penny (Doug) Wilson, Sheryl (Jeff) Davis, and Barbara Johnson; eighteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sue (Effie) White.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Providence Moravian Church with the Rev. Robert Peek officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard with military rites provided by American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the church.
