Jimmie Kaltenbourne Smith

Jimmie Kaltenbourne Smith age 65 of Lexington, NC left this world on December 15th, 2010. He was born on December 21st, 1944 to Hardin and Carrie Lillian Clark Smith. He grew up in Stokes and Forsyth counties and on November 29th 1965 he married the love of his life and they settled into their home in the Arcadia community of Davidson county. He was employed at Stroh Brewery (formerly Schlitz) as a welder/mechanic from the time they opened the doors in 1970 until he retired due to injuries 25 years later. Jimmie was very active in the local Teamsters Union 391. Jimmie was a very unique man whose laughter was infectious and whose personality you could not forget. He was quite a character and charmed and joked his way into so many lives. He would surprise friends with little gifts or flowers he had picked up during the day making his rounds just to make them smile. He believed that it was the little things in life that mattered and tried his best to make everyone else slow down and appreciate the ones that loved them. He is survived by his daughter Jennie Katherine Reaume and her husband David of Lexington, NC, his daughter Jamie Karol Meseke, her husband Christopher and their children Brandt, Christopher Jr. (C.J.), and Karol Suzanne (Sami) of Palm Coast, FL., his sister Geneva Mathis of Winston-Salem, his brother William Dallas Smith Sr. (Bill) of Lexington, NC and many much loved nephews nieces and their families. He was preceded in passing by his loving wife Carol Suzanne Dunnagan Smith, his mother and his brothers Eddie and Floyd Smith. Visitation will be Friday December 17, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00pm at Hayworth Miller on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday December 18, 2010 with burial to follow in the family cemetery in Sandy Ridge NC.
