Jimmie Saunders, Sr.

Mr. Jimmie Lee Saunders, Sr., 86, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022.  He was born February 3, 1936, in Forsyth County to the late Ornan Claudius Saunders and Alice Straughn Saunders.  Jimmie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and most of all friend.  He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 35 years of service.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances New Saunders and sister, Mary Ruth Tullock (Richard).  Jimmie is survived by two sons, Jimme L. Saunders, Jr. (Kim) and Keith “Randy” Saunders (Shon); two granddaughters, Kelsey Joergens-Kokate (Erik) and Brooke Oudman (Jordan); great-granddaughter, Lilah Joergens-Kokate; and nephew, Terry Tullock. A graveside service will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, December 23, 2022. at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ron Baity officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Berean Baptist Church, 4135 Thomasville Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Rd STE 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
