Mr. Jimmie Devon Hayes, 84, of Wilmington, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015.
Jimmie was born February 2, 1932 in Forsyth County to Newton and Ada Hayes. He was born and raised in the Baptist faith. He served in the Air Force in WWII. An avid fisherman, Jimmie moved to Wilmington so he could fish more often. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sue Jackson Hayes, sisters, Gertrude Lineback and Alberta Foltz, and brothers, Newton ""Whitey"" Hayes, Jr., Gene Hayes, Vincent Hayes, Bud Hayes, and Marion Hayes.
Jimmie is survived by daughters, April Larimore (Bobby) and Yvonne O'Neal (Jeff); sons, Tony Hayes (Sheila) and Steve Hayes; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Michael and Dot Cousiamono; brother, Ronald Hayes (Crystal); and sister-in-law, Evelyn Hayes.
A celebration of Jimmie's life will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel officiated by Rev. James Demby. Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 6 - 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
