Jessie Whitaker

Mrs. Jessie Mae Miller Whitaker, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on March 28, 1944, in Forsyth County. Jessie loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. She loved to travel to the beach and work in her flower gardens. Jessie greatly loved her three sons, and she will be missed by them and everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, William “Gray” Whitaker, Sr.; her sister, Ann Taylor; and her stepdaughter, Teresa Whitaker.

She is survived by three sons, William Whitaker, Jr. (wife, Janice), Terry Whitaker, and Tony Whitaker (wife, Brooke); two stepdaughters, Debbie Vogt (husband, Gary) and Donna Hicks (husband, Rayburn); nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating.
