A memorial service for Brother J.T. Shelton will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday June 13 at the Pilot Masonic Lodge 493 A.F. & A.M. with Rev. D.C. Collins and Past Master Dean Gordon officiating. VFW Post 9436 will provide United States Military Burial Rites and Past Master Sam Carson will be conducting masonic burial rites. The family will be receiving friends following the service. Mr. Jesse Thomas “J.T.” Shelton, 72, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at his home. He was born May 5, 1947 in Surry County to the late General Carter Shelton and Bernice Holt Shelton. Mr. Shelton proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He later served 4 terms as the Past Master of Pilot Masonic Lodge 493 A.F.&A.M. Mr. Shelton was a former member of the Pilot Mountain Rescue Squad. He was the owner/operator of four gas stations in the Pilot Mountain and Winston-Salem area. Mr. Shelton loved all aspects of racing, including driving and mechanics. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Cox. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Gloria W. Shelton; daughter, Cindy Collins (Brad); son, Brian Shelton (Lisa); five grandchildren; three sisters: Doris Rogers, Myrtle Wagoner, and Joy Willard; and one brother, Eddie Shelton (Pat). In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Pilot Masonic Lodge 493 A.F. & A.M. for the Masonic Charities, P.O. Box 543, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
