Jesse Joyce

Mr. Jesse Willard Joyce, 86, of Walkertown, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, December 27, 2017. He was born May 19, 1931 in Stokes County to the late Jesse Albert Joyce and Willie Mae Mitchell Joyce. Mr. Joyce was a Godly man who loved the Lord and lived by God's word. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Joyce worked for Hanes Hosiery for many years and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco company with twenty years of service. He was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, usher, and Sunday School teacher for many years. Mr. Joyce was a happy man that loved his wife, family, and his church. Preceding him in death are his parents, a wife, Mrs. Virginia Doris Davis Joyce, a daughter, Debbie Jean Boles, and a sister, Wilma Rice. Surviving are a son, Keith Joyce; three granddaughters: Kayla Justice and husband Jeremy of Welcome, Crystal Dawn Vance of Kernersville, and Savannah Grace Millsaps and husband Scott of Summerfield; two great-grandchildren: Emily and Grayson Millsaps; a son-in-law, Thomas Boles; and a sister, Mary Jane Cheek. A funeral service will be conducted in his honor 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Northwoods Baptist Church, officiate by Pastor Jim Thompson. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory - Walkertown. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
