Jerry Don Tinch

Kernersville – Mr. Jerry Don Tinch, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Hospice Home of High Point. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on March 5, 1949, to Murriel Tinch and Thelma Richmond Tinch. Jerry was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War. He also previously served as a Virginia State Trooper. Jerry enjoyed listening to music, especially classic country, bluegrass, and gospel. He loved being a grandfather and loved spending time with his family. He also loved his granddogs. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Tinch.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucille Hackney Tinch; three children, Angela “Renee” Sheppard (husband, Mark), Matthew Thomas, and Duane Thomas (wife, Anna); three grandchildren, Larry Franklin Holland, III, Jackson Thomas Tinch, and Eleanor Laura Tinch; and two brothers, Darrel Tinch and Morris L. Tinch.

There will be no formal services at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the VA. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
