Jerry “David” Southern, 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at his home. He was born in Stokes Co. on December 9, 1944, the son of the late Hilary Southern and Sara Lee Garner Southern. David retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and enjoyed working with livestock all of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Shelton Southern and a grandson, Joseph Cole Southern. He is survived by a son, Joseph David Southern and his wife Margaret; a daughter, Jerri Lynn Southern Wolfe and her husband, Jonathan Curtis Wolfe; a grandson, Kevin Andrew Southern and his wife Angela; and his only great-grandson, Joseph Colton Southern. A private family service will be conducted at a later date.
