Jerry Leon Smith, 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away November 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. 

Mr. Smith was born April 23, 1941, in Forsyth County, to Lloyd Morgan Smith and Alma Grace Petty Smith. Jerry retired after 37 years of service at R.J. Reynolds. Throughout his life, he worked at Smith Lakes, a family owned fish pond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Leon Smith Jr.; brother in-law, Delma Hicks; and a granddaughter, Cherie Smith. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Elizabeth Pfaff Smith; three sons, Lloyd Martin Smith, Jerry Wayne Smith, and Stephen Pfaff Smith; one daughter, Deidre Christine Smith Jarvis (Clayton); one sister, Joann Hicks; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held 11 AM Friday, November 15, 2024, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 Friday at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trellis Supportive Care 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103
