WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. Jerry Addison Jones, Sr., 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was a loving Christian, son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and teacher who is now at peace with his Lord. He was born on April 21, 1930 in Forsyth County to Archie Addison Jones and Naomi Victoria Branch Jones. Jerry attended Gray High School where he was the Senior Class President and then went on to attend NC State University where he received a degree in Engineering. It was at NC State that he met the love of his life, Martha Ann Kennedy Jones. They began planning their future after their second date. They married in 1952 and were married for 47 years. Jerry taught drafting at Asheboro High School for three years and then accepted a job as a draftsman at AT&T where he retired after 30 years of service at which time he began teaching Computer Programming full-time at Forsyth Technical Community College until he retired from there in 2007 at the age of 77. Teaching is what gave him joy and all of his students loved him. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on trips to Disney World. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years. To know him was to love him. Preceding Mr. Jones in death are his wife, parents, and a brother, Terry A. Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his four children, Sherry Jones Gough (Lanny) of Lewisville, NC, Jerry ""Jay"" A. Jones, Jr. (Patti) of Clemmons, NC, Mona Jones and Bonnie Jones, both of the home; four grandchildren, Ashley Gough Bradford (Scott) of Lewisville, NC, John F. Gough (Erin) of Clemmons, NC, Katie Jones Bass (Matt) of Winston-Salem and Danny Jones of Wilmington, NC; ten great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brooklyn, Emily and Samantha Bradford, Carter, Bradley, Cadance, and Chloe Gough, Brayden and Riley Bass. Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Clemmons, NC. The family will accept flowers to be delivered to Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel or memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Forsyth Technical Community College Foundation, 2100 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
