Jerry Tootie Lee Eddinger

Mr. Jerry ""Tootie"" Lee Eddinger, 73, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born July 12, 1936 in Forsyth County to the late William S. and Mabel Paton Eddinger. Mr. Eddinger was a member of Griffith Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 31 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Eddinger; two brothers, Bill and Bobby Eddinger and one sister, Gladys Blair. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sylvia York Eddinger; one daughter, Renea Donley (Craig) of Winston-Salem; three grandsons who he loved dearly, Jerame and Cory Donley and Johnathan Eddinger; two sisters, Betty Ketchie and Ann Lambeth; two brothers, Jimmy Eddinger and Jack Eddinger (Annie); and numerous nieces and nephews. Tootie was loved by many friends who looked to him for help with anything that needed fixing, as well as just sitting in his shop ""shooting the bull"". A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Griffith Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Brown and Keith Eddinger officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Griffith Baptist Church, 1987 Old Salisbury Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Forsyth Medical Center 5th floor, Dr. Stephen Kirkland and to Hospice & Palliative Care Center.
