Jennings Eugene Tuttle of Rural Hall passed away peacefully September 20, 2022, while holding his wife’s hand. He was born in Forsyth County on May 15, 1931, to Jennings Norfleet Tuttle and Verlie Mae Fowler. He had one sister, Gilda Gray Smith and her husband Kenneth Eugene Smith who all preceded him in death. On November 14, 1953, at 4 o’clock he was married to Shirley Fan Easter by the Reverend George Chiddie at Providence Moravian Church. Gene was blessed with three loving and loyal children, Scotty Lee Tuttle, Jan T. Scott and Wendy T. Lawson. He was again blessed when they brought Marcia Dezern, E. Dale Scott and Timothy L. Lawson into the family. Once more he was blessed with seven loving and unique grandchildren, Benjamin Tuttle and his wife Emilie, Matthew Tuttle, Drew Scott and his wife Catie, Jay Scott, Taylor Lawson and her husband Alex Williamson, Evan Lawson and Chelsea Kiger, and Sage Lawson; great grandchildren Aurora, Georges, and soon to arrive Sylvie. He was a man of many talents such as leather working, sewing, woodworking, a unique potter and a skilled hunter and marksman. He was an avid collector of WWII artifacts and memorabilia. Cooking wasn’t one of his talents, although once he made a delicious apple pie. His grandchildren often asked, “how can Grandpa make a pie and not a sandwich?” He graduated from Rural Hall High School and attended Catawba College. He retired from his career in the Engineering department at RJ Reynolds. A special thanks to all of the caretakers over the last year, especially Bryan T. Russell, Dorothy Hicks and Mountain Valley Hospice. There will be no formal service at this time. The family welcomes donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation https://t2t.org/ as an expression of sympathy.
