Jennifer ""Jenny"" Joy Adams, born in Anderson, Indiana on January 31, 1958 transitioned from life here on Earth to eternal life with God on May 6, 2011. Jenny attended Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee and Haywood Community College in Clyde, North Carolina. Jenny lived in Winston Salem since 2001. She was a dedicated advocate and supporter of services benefitting persons with intellectual and developmental challenges and their families, a devoted mother, and a wonderful friend to all. Jenny loved traveling, fishing, reading, gardening, spending time with her family, and researching family genealogy. She is preceded in death by maternal great grandmother, Lily Franklin Stewart of Moultrie, GA and a great aunt and uncle, Elizabeth Stewart Shinholser and husband, Edwin. Jenny's legacy will be carried on by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Adam Carroll Pressley and daughter-in-law, Shelly Wright Pressley of Canton, NC; daughter Elizabeth Camille Pressley of Kernersville, NC; mother Jacqueline Stewart McGlamory of Kernersville, NC; father Joseph William Adams of Johnson City, TN; sister Alisa Elizabeth Adams May and husband Larry of Manassas, VA; brother Andrew Woodward Adams and wife Kay of Winston Salem, NC; sister Melissa Adams Hammonds and husband Kevin of Houston, TX. Nieces and nephews include Stephanie Renee White Baker and husband Brent of Suffolk, VA; Samuel Allen May and fiance Angelyn McCabe of Fayetteville, NC; Bradley Adams of Augusta, GA; Benjamin Stewart Adams and wife Brittney of Fayetteville, GA; and multiple great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close friend, Sandra Fowler of Clyde, NC. A service is planned at Crawford Ray Funeral Home in Canton, NC on Saturday, May 14th at 3 p.m. with burial immediately following. A memorial service will be held in Winston Salem at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on May 21st at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 and/or Forsyth Humane Society & SPCA, 61 Miller St., Winston Salem, NC 27104.
