Jennie Rose Mills

Jennie Rose Baker Mills, 93, of Salemtowne Retirement Community, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on February 15, 1917 to the late Samuel Baker and Gertrude Ezersky Baker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John L. Mills; five siblings; and one grandchild. Jennie and John enjoyed camping, square dancing and gardening. When Jennie moved to Salemtowne in 2001, she became an avid walker, and spent many hours greeting visitors and chatting with friends in the lobby of the Vogler building. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her two daughters, Janet L. Jones and husband Dr. Beverly N. Jones III of Winston-Salem and Barbara Ann Ramsey of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Lily Jewel Jones, Lucy Rose Jones of Winston-Salem, John Mychael Ramsey and wife Jessica, Danielle Marie Ramsey; four great grandchildren of Houston, Texas; and a nephew, John M. Mills of Ithaca, NY. A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM Friday, December 3, 2010 at Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community. The family requests that memorials be made to Salemtowne Retirement Community, 1000 Salemtowne Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27106, Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or a charity of the donor's choice. The family thanks Dr. Toni Wymer, the staff at Salemtowne and the Cardiac Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center for their care.
