Jennie Cowan

Mrs. Jennie Anders Cowan, 88, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on December 1, 1928 in Transylvania County North Carolina to Lona Kuykendall Anders and Lum Anders. Jennie, being the 7th of 10 children, was independent, strong-willed, analytical. Always optimistic, Jennie was a "glass-half-full" kind of person. She was social and outgoing. She loved people and had never met a stranger. She had the ability to learn a person's entire life story while waiting in line to checkout at Walmart. Her priority was always the health and well-being of her family. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Taylor Cowan, Jr.; son, Edward Michael Cowan; and granddaughter, Lindsey Cowan. Surviving are her son, Neal Cowan (Kim); and daughters, Lona Ward (Ricky); and Eva Cowan (Gail Dickerson); daughter-in-law, Becky Cowan; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Wilson, Myrtle Nichols, and Stella West; as well as her good friend and neighbor, Pat Emerson. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 27,2017 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek is assisting the family.
