Jeffrey George Chrysson entered the more immediate presence of our Lord on February 14, 2022 at the age of 58, after a ten month, valiantly fought battle with gallbladder cancer. Jeff retired from the Winston Salem Police Department (WSPD) after serving 30 years. Many of those years he taught the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) program. He was then asked to write a program specifically for Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools, which became the award-winning SuperKids Program. He retired as a Corporal from the WSPD. Jeff loved people and after retirement in 2016, he went to work handing out samples at Costco. It combined two of his favorite things: loving and talking to people and giving them food. He brought joy, laughter and friendship to all those who knew him. Jeff was a natural caregiver and server to those he loved.
Jeff was raised in the Moravian Church, he left for a few years to attend a Baptist Church, but for the last 20 years was a member at New Philadelphia Moravian Church where he served in many capacities. Jeff was proceeded in death by his father Nick Chrysson Sr. when Jeff was a young infant. His beloved mother, Fayrene Goforth Chrysson Logan raised Jeff and his two brothers on her own while running an in-home daycare. His cousin Sandy Perkins (who was more like a sister to him) passed away in December of 2021. Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 37 years Paula, his daughter Sydney Mojica (Nathan), brother Nick Chrysson Jr., brother Scott Logan of Jacksonville FL, special “sister” Kim Chrysson and niece and nephew Olivia and Tripp of the home. Jeff is also survived locally by: mother-in-law Bobbie Fowler, sister-in-law Debbie Herrin (Ron), and nephew Chris Herrin. From Cape Coral, FL, niece and nephews, Angela Goff (Robbie), Tanner and Logan. From Jacksonville, FL, niece and nephew, Amaya and Chase Logan. Additionally, Jeff had a host of special close friends that were more like family surrounding him: Judy and Jeff Cline, Brian Clarke, Brent Helms and Eleasa and Ryleigh Allen. There are so many others they are just too numerous to mention.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt and special thank you to the staff of Novant Health Cancer Center, Integrative Medicine, specifically Dr. Gene Paschold, nurse Paula Norman, Dr. Carrie Johnson and all their staff. The family would also like to extend our thanks to the WSPD and Jeff’s brothers and sisters in Blue. The love and support of the Blue Family is something that only the Blue family can provide.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 3:00 PM at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with The Right Reverend Sam Gray officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston-Salem or to the NH DLD Cancer Institute Simstein Fund. Checks can be mailed to: 1701 S Hawthorne Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. (In the memo line include: Jeff’s name and Simstein Fund). The family is being assisted by Hayworth Miller Funeral Home.
